The Challenge

The founders of Be Bougie, Allyson and Kassandra, reached out to The Marketing Prophet with the goal of increasing their brand awareness through search. Little did they know that brand awareness would also help increase their website revenue!

The Solution

Keyword Research + Site Reconstructing

When a brand comes to us to increase their brand awareness through search, the first thing we do is conduct a full site audit. We do this to understand how visitors are already finding the Be Bougie brand through search and what keywords they are using. Once we found the keywords that Google indexed for Be Bougie, we then looked at how much traffic (CTR) those keywords were driving as well as where they ranked on the SERPs.

We then researched the search intent of theses users and realized that the intent of searchers didn’t match the brand’s mission for their product pages. We then dived into competitor research and also asking the founders of Be Bougie “what keywords do you want your customers to find you by through search”. We then took those keywords and researched them to find the best possible long tail key phrases to brand their products, podcast page and blog site.

Link Building, Blog Content

Be Bougie had a complex navigational menu which made it harder for a website visitor to find what they came for and complete checkout. Instead of listing all categories of items they sell, we shortened the navigational shop link into 4 sections (not including gift card). We then went through all the category landing pages to add more content to each category so that Google can index more information to show in SERPs.

There was no long form content on their site which made it even harder for Google to consistently index their site with new information. Be Bougie created blog posts on their own. 

Meta Descriptions + Product Copy

Last, we completely redid their meta copy for their web pages and up to 20 product pages. We restructured the product copy to entice visitors to buy. We redid all product names to reflect searchable keywords that correctly relate to each product and not just use creative names. We added FAQ sections and relevant blog posts to each product description to build trust and confidence. Last we added a quick buy option for shoppers who already landed on the product they searched for on Google.

The Result

Within 3 months working with Allyson and Kasandra at Be Bougie, they have been organically ranked for 1206 keywords that bring them, on average 690 website visitors within the last 30 days of our project.

From Google, they have a .66% conversion rate, which is a good start considering this was 0 to begin with, and it led to $614.74 in sales from 9 transactions. Within 90 days, they received 1303 website traffic visitors from organic search across 6 search engines. There store’s overall conversion rate is only .25% with their search traffic conversion rate being over 2x that amount. We hope to see an increase in their overall conversion rate due to an increase in their search conversion rate if Be Bougie sticks to the SEO marketing plan given to them to keep up the success.
